About me

Hi, my name is Charles.
I play chess competitively and regularly participate in math competitions. I also compete in puzzle hunts with my friends.

Chess

I started playing chess when I was five, and have played in almost 500 rated tournaments since.
I have played in city, state, and national level tournaments. I've won K-1 New York State championships, the K-2 New Jersey state championships, the Baltimore elementary school championships, and the Baltimore middle school championships. I've also tied for first in the K-1 New York City championships, 6th in the K-1 National championships, and 7th in the K-2 National championships. These tournaments also had team prizes for schools, where my school won first most of the time. In second grade, my team sweeped the 3 major tournaments: NYC championships, NY championships, and the National championships. One additional achievement is that I became the youngest ever Queens Chess Club champion in 2018 at 12 years old.

Puzzle Hunts

I enjoy solving puzzle hunts with my friends. These include: Puzzle Rojak, Burn After Solving, and Galactic Puzzle Hunt. My teams best performance was on Puzzle Rojak, where we solved 5 puzzles. It isn't much, but we hope that as we continue to work on puzzle hunts, we'll get better and better. For more information about puzzle hunts, click here(credit to Andrew Li)
