Mantas Kempinas: About Me

My name is Mantas Kempinas, and I am fifteen years old. Living in New York City, I attend Stuyvesant High School as a sophomore. My mom was born here in New York, but her parents are both Japanese immigrants. On the other hand, my dad was born in Lithuania during the Soviet era, and eventually immigrated here on his own. Both of my parents work in the art industry, but I am less interested in art than they are. Instead, my main interest is baseball, but I also have smaller hobbies such as basketball and chess.

My biggest passion outside of school is definitely baseball. I grew up playing multiple sports, but baseball was the only one I have taken seriously. I first joined Stuyvesants junior varsity baseball team last year as a freshman, and currently I am one of the captains of the team. Over winter break, we traveled to Florida together to practice and play there for a week, which is where this picture is from. My other interests are hobbies such as basketball and chess. I enjoy both of them, but do not take either of them seriously. I mostly play basketball with my friends at the park or at a gym. My favorite basketball team is the Brooklyn Nets, but I swear I am not a bandwagon. I played chess when I was growing up but then quit playing. Towards the end of quarantine I picked it back up and now I play mostly everyday. I play mostly bullet and am rated around 1800 on chess.com. Here is my profile.
